In the mid 1970’s Brian Beardsley  was 4th. in the National Championship 24 hour cycling time trial covering more than 420 miles.
 

About the same period Harold Reynolds did personal best times of 24.15 for 10 miles and 64.15 for 25 miles.

Allen Smith holds the  5 miles time trial record on the Hampole Upton course at  just over 10 mins.

Jill Bishop won the junior women’s national BAR in 1980 with an average speed of 25.05 mph. She was the fastest girl in the 10 miles time trial championship with 24.28, and at 25 miles championship with 61.40.


D. Saxton won the junior women’s national BAR in 1985 with an average speed of 24.30 mph.
 

In 2000 Ken Scott did personal best times for 10 miles time trial of 22.12 and for 50 miles time trial 1.59.10. Aged 64 at the time. At the age of 65 he did two consecutive personal best times for 25 miles time trial of 59.35 & 59.10 going under the hour for the first time ever. His best time for the club event on the Hampole Ackworth course in 2000 was 24.35, and for a special club event called the Goole circuit, he held the record of 2-8-30 for the 52 miles. His first race was in .

The Hill Climb record for the 600 yards High Street hill South Elmsall  is held by Murry Burnley  at 57 sec. (1986)

From 1993 to 2001 Richard Watson won the 600 yards hill climb championship on South Elmsall High Street on 8 out of 9 years.  In 1997 he won the North Midlands  Middlemarkers BAR based on distances of 10, 25, 50, & 100 miles time trials, aged 56 at the time.
